Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of economic growth, industrial development, and population growth on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in ASEAN. The research uses a descriptive quantitative approach with panel data from 5 ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, over the period 2001- 2020. The results show that population growth and industrial development have a significant impact on CO2 emissions, while economic growth does not have a significant influence. Population growth has a significant negative impact on CO2 emissions, possibly reflecting mitigation efforts such as increased energy efficiency and the use of environmentally friendly technologies. On the other hand, industrial development has a significant positive impact on CO2 emissions. This research provides important insights for policymakers in developing strategies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by focusing on the industrial sector and population management.
